Frequently asked Questions: Portrait Sessions


Do you supply wardrobe? 

You are responsible for bringing the entirety of the wardrobe. 

To save on time during your session have your clothes steamed/ironed prior to arrival.

If you booked the additional creative direction you will have have access to silk scarfs and a variety of fabrics for us to incorporate into your looks. 


Will you help me style the looks?

If you booked the additional creative direction, yes.

You are able to bring as many outfit options as you would like and together

day of your portrait session we will narrow down the options that feel best on you in the moment.

Depending on the duration of a session you booked, you will have three+ looks.

Without the creative direction addition client is responsible for all styling and the looks must be complete before session begins. There will not be access to scarfs or in studio wardrobe pieces.


When to book?

Please reach out (info@emmalorraine.com) to confirm my location and availability.

Generally, for LA based portrait session you may book at minimum of one week prior to your desired date.

For sessions under $3k you can not book more than two months in advance.

Availability is not guaranteed without a paid deposit.


How do I secure my shoot date?

I require a $100 deposit (per day booked) to guarantee your date.

The deposit can be fully applied to your final invoice with exceptions. 

You forfeit the deposit if there is a cancelation within a week of your shoot date,

or rescheduling (including location changes) within 72 hours of your date.

This ensures everyone’s time is respected.

The remaining balance is due 24 hrs before your portrait session begins.


How to make a payment?

Deposits are made electronically through Zelle, Venmo, or PayPal.

Please let me know your preferred method and I will send you the corresponding information.

The remaining balance can be completed in cash, check, or electronically.


How many images do I get?

You are guaranteed a set amount of final retouched portraits per hour.

Beyond that number you are able to select additional images for me to retouch at $15 per image (+$5 for Photoshop)

I do not send high resolution images that have not been retouched. 


Do I get to see all the images? 

Yes, after your session I will send you a PDF slide show of all the images we created.

The images in the slide show will not be retouched, sized small, low quality, and watermarked.

The slideshow is for your selection process only and not intend to be shared elsewhere. 

From the slideshow you will select the images you would like me to retouch.


How do I select my images?

The slideshow of images are marked with a file number.

You will send me the file numbers of the images you would like me to retouch. 


How much time do I get to select my images?

You have one week to send me your selections to ensure a quick delivery date of the final portraits. 

If you exceed one week, it may take longer for final delivery as I have to retouch other client’s images who sent their selections in on time. 

The slideshow link will remain active for up to one month incase you would like to select additional images. 

If selections are not sent within one month you forfeit the final retouched images.

Selections sent surpassing one month of pdf slide show delivery date will require a $100 addition. 


When do I get my images? 

If you send me your selections within one week, I will send you your final retouched images within one week of that day.


What do I bring?

Bring a few different types of items, it’s good to have plenty of options. 

Bring items that you feel your most comfortable and confident in. 

I also like to advise to bring a few pieces that hang in your closet and you never get to wear, but love.

You’re welcome to bring whatever props you would like to include in personalizing your portrait session. 

To ensure we have a maximum time to create together please arrive with hair and make up complete, but bring tools for touch-ups. 


Can I bring someone to my session? 

If you prefer, you are welcome to bring someone with you. 

Portrait sessions tend to be quite personal.

So, make sure if you do bring a guest it is someone you have a very close or professional relationship with. 

Guests are not permitted to take “behind the scenes” footage, give direction, or stand behind me while I photograph. 

Creating content or communicating while I am not photographing is fine. 

Your guest may not be included into the portrait session without prior notice.

There is a $150 cleaning fee for more than three guests in studio.  


Where is your studio location?

My studio is located near DTLA within an artist community called The Brewery Artist Lofts 


Parking?

Ample gated free self parking 


Can I bring pets to your studio? 

No, if you would like to be photographed with your pet you must book an on location portrait session.
